from 348 reviewsVery well made as expected and sounds fantastic. A bargain price for a high-end sound. Thank you!
I just got this today and I can't stop trying it on everything.
Having used the 87. All I can say, is this is the closest reproduction I've ever tried.
First, tried it on my acoustic that I know very well that has a beautiful tone. But most microphones just don't capture it. This nailed it to the wall. Absolutely gorgeous.
Next, of course, I had to try it on my vocals. And it just brought out every nuance.and was so smooth. Not much needed in post production. The vocals just cut through the mix.Like you'd want.
For this price point, this is just a remarkable buy. I absolutely am in love with this microphone.
I own a 70's U87 and I've got to say that the Dachman DA-87i is remarkable. It has THAT sound. Ran this mic (and also used a stereo pair) through everything from strings, piano, brass, vocals and it did not disappoint at all. I'm blown away by the quality.
This is a must to have microphone. Datchman once again makes honor to its reputation as one of the top vintage recreation mics producer.
All that you can expect of a Fet47 is in this faithful recreation!
Great mic! I e had a tlm 103 and a beesneez elly (producer series) for vocals. The 87i KILLS both of them with my voice. My vocals are Chris Cornell style and very texture. This mic brings it all out well with zero harshness. EQ wise I roll off some really low bass (pultec EQ) frequencies and even before compression, sounds great!
Your Mic has exceeded our expectations at FILMRecords Studio.
All of our current Artists are choosing the DA87i above our other mic selections and the results have been amazing. I also have the 47 and 68 mics which are also outstanding.
We Thank You !!!
Well..
what can I say without sounding like everyone else!?!?
They’re GREAT. In every way. The build is exceptional. The case and the mounts and power supply are all absolute top notch.
The sound is just fantastic! Warm, silky and vibe-y.
My first session with them, was as a pair of drum overheads - and they were a joy!
Tracks came out great!
Look forward to tracking vocals, as well as (any) acoustic instrument!
Really great work guys.
Please keep up the high quality and the good work.
Cheers! 🍻

I had to hear it to believe it. The DA87i delivers and then some. Anyone will enjoy singing on this mic. Can’t wait to try it on different instruments. Was wondering if it could live up to all the “hype” and it DOES!
Side by side with the original…little to NO difference in sound or quality!
This is a well built, well thought out, well researched, great rendition of an iconic studio mic at an unbelievable price point! Grab one! You will NOT regret it!
This is definitely the closest 67 clone I’ve tried! I can’t recommend it enough!!!
I have never heard a clone so close to the original as this Dachman 87
Truly remarkable !!!
I just left the studio, comparing the U87 and this microphone. It’s incredible! The studio owner and I couldn’t hardly notice a difference. All it needed was a slight boost to sound just like the U87. I took it home to test it out. The room isn’t as treated but, since I have an Apollo Twin X, I slapped on a Neve 1073, Tube-Tech CL 1B, LA-2A Legacy, and a CV Vox (to help with room noises). It’s perfect! Definitely coming back.
I own a Neumann 103 and was looking for a U87 but didn’t want to SELL a KIDNEY to get one! After some investigation I found the DA87. I watched plenty of YouTube testimonials/reviews and took a chance. The mic arrived with a beautiful wooden storage box & sturdy shock mount. I can’t believe how responsive this mic is! Vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion all sound fantastic. It’s an indispensable part of my home studio. Well done!
Welp.. if you're on the fence, get down and grab your wallet..
I have used original U87's extensively (1990's build and 2020's AI build) and I cannot stress how similar in tone this mic is to the "classics". That being said, this microphone has a smoother, less pointy mid-range character but with all the detail and top end clarity that you'd expect from an 87.
During my first session using it I quickly noticed how little I was going to have to use EQ to fix problem areas. Sure I'll still use some, but it won't be for correction like I have to do with the U87AI model I normally use. There is a distinct lack of harshness and "nose" making mixing a breeze.
This isn't the first "clone" I've used either. I have tried several over the years looking for a cost effective replacement to the original. One of the things most other ones get wrong is that they create more of an edge and "crispiness" (maybe in an effort to sound expensive?) that makes the top end brittle, especially when mixing. But not the Dachman, it sounded great right out of the box.
Basically, all the stuff about the U87 I wanted, without the stuff I didn't. And don't get me started on the price - it's a freakin steal with a wood box, shockmount, and static mount.
Here's my signal chain:
DA 87i -> Shadow Hills Mono GAMA -> 1176F -> RND MBC
Bravo, Dachman Audio.
This mic is insane. It might be the best and most authentic sounding mic that Dachman makes — which is saying a lot, because each one of their mics are incredible. The DA 67 has that velvety warmth, subtle saturation, and slight but glorious compression that one would expect from a mic five times the price. This is not hyperbole. This is an accurate statement, and not one I would just willy nilly throw around. This is going to be a classic mic for all time.
Before you buy some mass produced factory mic, stop and look at Dachman mics. Handmade in USA with extremely high-end components and total attention to detail.
Thinking of getting this? Do it. Do it now. You won’t regret it.
