I’ve been recording for decades, and the Dachman Audio DA 87i has been one of the most satisfying upgrades I’ve made to my studio.
I replaced, among others, my Rode condenser because I was never happy with its sound. I found it hollow, brittle, and harsh, with sibilance that was difficult to manage. Getting a vocal sound I liked often required compromises in microphone positioning.
The DA 87i was a revelation. The difference was immediately apparent. It sounds fuller, more natural, and more balanced, without the brittle, hollow character I struggled with before. I can now use a traditional microphone position and get the sound I’ve been looking for.
I’ve experimented with several preamps, and pairing the DA 87i with Universal Audio’s VoxBox has given me the best vocal sound I’ve achieved in my studio. The improvement was so significant that I went back and reworked a previously completed song. The difference was night and day! I’ve also found that the sound of this combination greatly reduces the need for additional de-essing.
After four decades of recording, I know what I like, and I’m not someone who buys equipment just for the sake of having something new. The DA 87i has genuinely impressed me, and I’m looking forward to trying it on acoustic guitar as well.

Recordings with this mic sound so good. I have no experience with the original Neumann, don't matter. This microphone is not too bright. A recording I made of a nylon string guitar blew me away. It looks cool and it's heavy.
Title says it all. This thing looks the part, but more importantly, it sounds the part. It’s got everything you love about the 87- clean, energetic, and present lows, musical mids, and rounded and detailed highs. The best 87 clone I’ve ever heard and right now my favorite vocal mic in a studio full of amazing mics.
I have several microphones that I use to vocals in my studio. Since I’ve purchased DA 87i this mic has become one of my main tools for vocals. This microphone is a lot more than what I expected. It is one of the best sign in microphones in my studio.
