Amazing!!!

Although I have only had this mic for a short time, I have used it on three sessions and it really does sound amazing! I don’t have an original Neumann U87 to compare it to but it does sound much better than the mics I have been using. I’ve put it through a few paces with the Omni and figure 8 setting and it does a very good job with all of them! I’m really interested in the 67 tube version so this will definitely help in that decision making process!
Thanks Dachman!

So Far, So Good as my dad would say

after a little issue with FEDex delivery we received the Mics and we are in the proocess of testing them and so far what we see and are hearing is pretty good. I don't have a vintage 87i on hand but we wanted to test it against my 87ai mics...So are they are testing fine.. I wish I had one of the originals to test it against. But no doubt there are differences and Yep, it takes about a 8 to 10db increased gain on our NEVE pres and we expected that. So far we have only tested an acoustic guitar against the 87ai we plan to test Mandolins Fiddles and even try to test them against some of my other Neumann mics.... It deffenitly has a different sound that the ai version.. but, right now for the money I can see they will fit on projects we do...... with a 3 year warranty, I'll have to see if we have any issues from now to then. On note I found it interesting that there is no S/N markings (we use it for insurance) on the mics that includes the DA67s and fet47 we purchased at the same time

My New Permanent Microphone!

I’ve been through a few mics throughout my few years of doing music. The RCM Pro, AT2020 and 2035, Neumann 102 (still love that mic), and the WA-8000. I can confidently say the DA87i is without question the best microphone I’ve ever owned in my life. It’s super smooth and pleasing to listen to. The lows, mids, and highs are all well balanced and nothing is too harsh. It has a nice sparkle up top and that beautiful mid forward sound. I’ve used a Neumann U87AI for a project and compared to the DA87i, it just has that character sound that the Neumann did not. Definitely in my top 5 favorite microphones OAT. I highly recommend picking one up if you’re looking to get one. you WILL NOT be disappointed.

Best mic I own

I like it better than the AKG 414XLll I've never used a real Neumann. Vocals, guitar cabs and acoustic guitars sound awesome with this DA87i.
